2D animation is used to bring stories to life by using bitmap and/or vector-based imagery created in computer software such as Photoshop and Illustrator.

The animation tends to appear more ‘flat’ as opposed to 3d animation as the imagery is generated using only the X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) axes. The 2D imagery is then brought to life using computer software such as After Effects.

Good animation takes people on a journey with their eyes and minds where imagination creates its own soundtrack that fits whatever mood or feeling they have about a particular moment in the animation. Animations can make people laugh, cry, think about things differently and move people in magnificent ways.
